Who can help me with the right PC to buy? _
PostSubject: Who can help me with the right PC to buy?   Who can help me with the right PC to buy? EmptyWed Feb 06, 2013 5:10 pm

As you all know, I'm in search for a new computer soon! I want to stress the fact that I do not need a hardcore gaming computer. I just need one to play League, some newer games, fps's, etc.

I am only interested in Walmart as that is where I'll find them the cheapest so I don't have to order them online and Walmart is right down the road for me.

Now, my question is, if a Windows 7 home premium desktop cost around $278+ tax which would be a little over 300, is that good? It just seems to cheap...It doesn't come with a monitor though, so I figured that's why it was so cheap. The ones with the monitors are over 400.

Here is what I was looking at: http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?Find.x=0&ic=48_0&Find=Find&Find.y=0&search_constraint=3944&_ta=1&search_query=computers&_tt=com&facet=price%3A%24250+-+%24500&_refineresult=true&cat_id=3944

Ignore the laptops, I am only interested in desktops and if the price range is cheap enough, I may be able to get one on my first paycheck!

I'd rather have windows 7 if possible. I'm smart with computers software wise and repairing wise such as viruses, knowing my way around a computer, etc. But when it comes to hardware such as the guts and the right computer for a little bit of gaming an shit, I know pretty much nothing.

I will want it to run Skype with my games I play, so anything with low RAM or a cheap ass processor is out of the picture already.

I'm also wanting the hardrive space to be about 160GB+, but this isn't something I'll cry about if its lets say, 120GB.

Thanks to the users who can help me with this, I just want to make sure I get the right computer, this laptop I'm using right now, I bought about 3 years ago and it costed me over $300 and I was dissapointed greatly.

Also, is DUO core good? The quad cores are just way more expensive and I dunno if I need that..

Thanks,
-Ranik

My buddy I always play LoL with built his gaming computer from scratch and probably could tell you everything you need to know. If you want I can ask him some specific questions for you later, or just see what he recommends.

Ask is a duo core good enough.

Like basically ask is the extra money worth a quad if I don't need a hardcore gaming pc.

You don't need to spend the money on a quad core.
You will need a decent video card. Most computer you could buy will probably have good enough cards.

I have a dual-core processor, and I can run most games just fine. (with the excpetion of open world rpg like fallout. I have to mess with graphic settings)

2.0+GHz processor speed is plenty for most games, but if youre a gamer, Im not sure you want to go much less than that.

I dont know what your price range is, but the cyberpowerPC would be more than great, and the HP Pavillion would work pretty well too.

My FPS is usually around 60, and I play on a laptop. Sometimes it will drop as low as 40 in teamfights.

I use whatever the default settings are.

I would build one TBH. It's cheaper and you get a much better computer.
